Before the rainy season could fully take over, my family and I wanted to make the most out of the remaining days of summer. What’s the best way to enjoy #SuperSummerAtSM2017? That is to EAT!!!! Refreshments are so in this summer season, we have ice candies, ice creams, fruit shakes and the best of all… HALO HALO!!!
I brought my family to the nearest SM from our place and decided to eat our halo halo there. Out of nowhere (and probably boredom too), we have decided to try ALL the halo halo available in SM Molino in one day! Absurd, right?! But that was one of the happiest SM moments I’ve had with my family this summer!
So let’s go about it in details…
There are only 5 food chains I know in SM Molino that serves halo halo: Chowking, Goldilocks, Mang Inasal, Kuya J and Teresita’s. So my husband and I, together with our little one and my sister strolled around SM Molino first then headed to our first stop: Chow King!
From the very beginning, I never doubted Chowking’s halo halo because this has been my ultimate favorite ever since I started to like halohalo which was just 2 years ago I think (I’m more of a mais con yelo kind of girl, you know). This regular-sized halo halo is priced at 73 pesos.
So rating this, 10 being the highest, this is around 9 for me. I rate 9 because as we all know, there’s nothing perfect in this world, lol. Sometimes, their shaved ice still got big chunks.
I really enjoyed Chowking’s halo halo, but unfortunately all good things must come to an end… we finished it in no time! No need to cry about it because we still have 4 halo halos to try on our list! One more personal reason why I wanted to try the halo halos available in SM because I wanted to find a new favorite. There’s nothing wrong with Chowking’s but you know… I just wanted something new.
So we’ve headed to our next stop which was Goldilocks! It was just right beside Chowking so we didn’t walk far. Our first halo halo was still very fresh in our tummies, but that’s just how excited we all are. We went straight to the next food chain. Haha!
Goldilock’s halo halo was a bit more milkier than Chowking’s, I think. But it wasn’t sweet enough for me. If you knew me well enough, you’d know how much I like sweets, so that’s kind-of a minus points for Goldilocks in my standards. Their regular halo halo is priced at 60 pesos, but they only had halo halo special yesteday, which was priced at 90 pesos. If I were to rate this halo halo, I’d give this a 7/10.
If I hadn’t known about Chowking’s halo halo, this would have been my go-to halo halo, but I don’t know, I’m still not sure. I may still be a mais con yelo kind of girl.
After this second glass of halo halo, I was feeling a bit full already, with all the milk, sugar, ice cream and shaved ice we’ve just devoured. I was getting hesitant if we should still continue this adventure because I’m worried my stomach would go berserk on me and I might rush to the nearest comfort room. Hahaha! But nooooo, I didn’t back out! We were here already, I decided we needed to finish this. I still haven’t found my new favorite halo halo!
So we immediately went to our next stop: Mang Inasal.
Mang Inasal’s halo halo is a bit okay for me. It kind of tastes like Chowking’s too (I’m thinking this is probably because they are sister companies under Jollibee Foods Corporation, which leads me to wondering why Jollibee doesn’t have halo halo on their regular menu? :D). Anywaaaaay, moving onnnn… All I can say about Mang Inasal’s halo halo is that it has more ingredients than all of the halo halos we’ve tried that day. And for that matter, I’m giving this an 8/10. By the way, their regular-sized halo halo is priced at 73 pesos too and the small one is priced at 53 pesos (just like Chowking’s!).
It was after this batch of halo halo that I started to feel really full. We’re still on our 3rd halo halo! We still have 2 more halo halos to try! I knew we couldn’t go directly to our next stop. I asked them if we could stroll around for a while before we head off to our next halo halo adventure. We went to Tom’s World first so my baby boy could try on some rides. My husband and sister also played basketball. I was just looking after my son, but honestly I just couldn’t move properly because I was feeling a bit bloated, hehehe.
Once they’ve finished all their tokens, we went straight to our next stop: Teresita’s of San Fernando.
Sorry to say, but their halo halo wasn’t really appealing to me. I personally think it lacked color (is that even a basis for a yummy halo halo? haha). I mean, I would probably be more interested to try their halo halo if it looked appealing and delicious. But anyway, we still tried it. This halo halo is priced at 90 pesos, I think? I’m not really sure because it was my sister who was on the counter. Really disappointed with this halo halo, I was looking for more ingredients but there’s only very little. Rating this, I’d give this a 6/10.
Did I look full in the photo? I’d say yes. Hahahaha!
Anyway, we’re almost done with our 5 halo halo picks from SM Molino. Our last stop would be Kuya J’s Restaurant. I was really intrigued with their ube halo halo. It really looks mouth-watering from all its advertisements, you know! So we walked over to Kuya J’s restaurant only to find out their halo halo has been sold out for the day! Bummer! It was just around 5:30-ish in the afternoon. So, our last stop was a fail. We’d probably try their ube halo halo one of these days when we get the chance.
After all the halo halos we’ve tried, I actually felt hungry! Like I was craving for an actual meal. I asked my husband if we could eat first before we head home because my body was looking for something to neutralize the taste of halo halos. We went to eat at Jollibee then we went home.
To cap it all off, I still haven’t found a new favorite halo halo, so it’s still Chowking for me! Wooohoo! It was truly the happiest #SuperSummerAtSM2017! It’s nice to know that SM is just around the corner for us. It’s like our 2nd home because it’s got everything that we need! From house items, leisure, clothing, hardware and our personal favorite… VARIETY OF FOOD! Our #FamFirstAtSM bondings are really fun and enjoyable because of SM Supermalls.
